What is Diggit?
Digg is a user driven social content website. Oh FFS!... another wanky 'social' term.
Ah, but this one is actually useful. Everything on Digg is submitted by the community of registered users. After they submit content, other people read the submission and Digg what they like best. If your story rocks and receives enough Diggs, it is promoted to the front page for the millions of visitors to see.
What can you do as a Digg user? Lots. Every person can digg (help promote), bury (help remove spam), and comment on stories.
I think Digg presents an incredible opportunity for bloggers/web site owners, but only if you're providing high quality and interesting posts...
Here's how Digg works...
- Post a great article to your blog.
- Submit the article to Digg.com.
You tell Digg the URL where the full story can be found on your site, give it a title and a description (a summary of the article). You also choose a category. - It appears in 'Upcoming Stories' on digg.com
Normally takes just 2 or 3 minutes to show up. - Other registered users of Digg.com are presented with your submission
They see your the Title and Description, and the url to the article on your site so they can read the complete article. - Digg it
If they like your article, they can 'Digg it'. They can also 'Declare it as Spam' or simply ignore it because it's of no interest. - The Big Digg
The more people that 'Digg it', the more exposure your article and URL gets.
Beautiful.
